Background of Religious Music in Bushehr The background of religious music in Bushehr related to Safavid Period which was about 500 years ago. However the roots of the forms like Sharveh and song pieces concerned to pre-Islam period.In this way, commercial connection with overseas and African immigrations to Bushehr, deeply influenced the culture of this region. Traditional ceremonies is considered in Bushehr (south of Iran) and divided in two groups: Moloudy (Religious celebration), Mourning which is complex of a movements and songs in a unique forms. Religious Mourning Ceremony: In this kind of ceremony, solo and choir songs along with communal movements and dances are used. There is a special Folkloric custom in the part of religious ceremony which is “Senj & Dammam” and is a polyrhythmic amalgam of percussion instruments that its root is finding in African, Iranian culture. The instrument which is used is “Bough”,”Dammam” and “Senj”. The forms of this kind of ceremony are: - Chavoshi - Senj o Dammam - Sharveh - Noheh - Mourning Yazleh  Moloudy Religious Celebration Ceremony This ceremony is performed in birth of Emams or the Prophet Mohammad. Solo and choir songs accompanying communal playings and dances are used in this ceremony. The instrument which is used is “Dammam”,”Ney anban” and “Deyreh”. The forms of this kind of ceremony are: - Choir Songs - Moloudy Dance
